Prof. Tang Chaorong

Dr. Tang was awarded Bachelor Degree in Plant Protection and Master Degree in Physiological Plant Pathology from Shenyang Agricultural University in 1995 and 1998, respectively, and PhD in Plant Pathology from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2001. Since 2004, after a postdoctoral training in the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Tang has worked as a principal investigator in the Rubber Research Institute, ChineseAcademy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences. Dr. Tang’s laboratory exploits the state of the art molecular biology techniques to explore the underlying mechanisms of rubber productivity. His focus includes molecular regulation of sucrose metabolism in relation to rubber production, and Hevea tree genomics. His paper about a high quality version of genome of rubber tree was highlighted in Nature as "Genetic clues to more rubber" and commented in Nature Plants as "Ethnogenomics: The societies that rubber built". In relevant areas, Dr. Tang has a total publication output of more than 60 peer reviewed research papers (total Google Scholar citations >500), as well as ~10 invited oral presentations at national or international conferences.
