His career started in 1981 when he joined the Ministry of Health as an Electronics Engineer where he worked as a maintenance engineer maintaining medical equipment. He later moved to the Ministry on promotion as the Deputy Director taking charge of development projects and the privatization of the healthcare support services including equipment maintenance. He was then appointed as the Director of the Medical Equipment Control Division Ministry of Health Malaysia from September 2008 until March 2013. As the director, he was primarily involved in the drafting of the Medical Device Bill and the Medical Device Authority Bill during his tenure and was responsible for ensuring that the Malaysian Parliament passed the two Bills and promulgating it into law. The two laws were passed and gazette in 2012 thus enabling all medical devices to be regulated under the new Act 737 and a body corporate to be formed under the Act 738. Currently, he is the Chief Executive (CE) of the newly formed Medical Device Authority which was established under the Medical Device Authority Act 2012 (Act 738).
